Tycho is a human male of average height with scruffy auburn hair. He has a pair of fierce sideburns but otherwise his lantern-jawed face is clean-shaven. His fashion sense is reasonably casual for an educated man of the late Victorian age. In case you're wondering, those pants are called "knickerbockers" and yes, those socks are Argyle. His nose is generally stuck firmly in a book which he carries in one hand, while the other holds a double barreled shotgun enhanced (possibly with mana stone(s) if the mods deem appropriate) by his niece.

Personality: Tycho is the absolute picture of snark, if he likes a person they won't be subjected to it quite as much... Unless that person is Gabe. Then all bets are off. He enjoys unnecessarily large words sprinkled throughout flowery and complicated communication. This isn't so much because he loves to hear his own voice actually. It's more due to a love for words then anything else.

He also enjoys reading and deflating Gabe's ego. His outward demeanor is nearly always seemingly reserved and polite. Moments when Tycho behaves like anything one might call emotional are few, far between and often brief. Tycho ALWAYS has a book of some sort in his hand and will read it if whatever is going on doesn't actively interest him. (This includes walking from one place to another.) Tycho is somewhat unflappable. In stressful situations he is usually (not always) calm, observant and ready with a flip comment. Tycho is also secure in his own intelligence, he understands where his abilities fall and he's not afraid to consult somebody in an area about which he has little or no knowledge.

Tycho is ultimately a force for good in the universe but to call him "morally ambiguous" would be the understatement of the century. (Case in point, he will kill a random rich guy for his ATM card, but still use the money only to buy a component needed to stop the end of the world. And be annoyed with Gabe for suggesting a more frivolous use for the funds.)

Tycho thirsts for knowledge much in the way a hobo thirsts for a bottle of Mad Dog 20-20. When his gun was upgraded by his niece to include a stand for a book he announced that the ability to "read and kill at the same time" or possibly read two books at once was the greatest thing he'd ever seen and was reduced to tears.

Abilities/Weapons: Occult Knowledge (Doctorate in Apocalyptic Studies), Mastery of Metaphysically Enhanced Shot Guns, Underwater Basket Weaving, Fortune Telling Machine Repair (i.e. limited magitech knowledge), walking and reading at the same time while avoiding obstacles, and Playing the Spoons. Tycho has magical talent but no desire to hone it to the point that will let him cast spells on the fly. His knowledge overshoots his ability by a long country mile. He can figure out and use magical items as well as perform rituals if there's a book in front of him. His role is that of scholar... and shooter, more then magician.

How well can your character hack?: If he has any hacking ability at all, it's very basic (and was probably the result of some gadget/addon given to him by his niece).

Weaknesses: Tycho is extremely touchy about the subject of the possible lack of sanity that runs in his family. He has something of a glass jaw (which is why he uses ranged weapons and hangs out with Gabe... Who is himself a ranged weapon of sorts), hit him twice and he goes down like a sack of tubers. He has difficulty keeping his snarky asides to himself at times when it would be better to keep his mouth shut. He will also run screaming from burning buildings.

History: For many years Tycho Brahe was a perfectly normal Ivonan youth of Melior with an interest with Those Things Man Was Not Meant To Know. Arcane studies tend to run in the Brahe family, but Tycho's brother shunned it for a lucrative career in business, going so far as to change his last name to "Forthwith". Despite the strained relationship with his brother, Tycho is very fond of his niece "Anne-Claire Forthwith". Anne-Claire is a tween with a penchant for flowery language (like her Uncle) and a genius level ability in science, invention and tinkering. (On several occasions their combined efforts have contributed to perfect a few Magitech devices..) Before hopping onto a skyship, he would often visit her to give her gifts, consult her on scientific matters, assist in procuring anything she might need for her inventions and having her upgrade his guns.

As well as a tendency to study That Which Man Was Not Meant To Know, or most likely because of it, the Brahe family tends to go a bit batty after reaching a certain age. Tycho often visited his Grandfather, Father and Uncle at a particular asylum where, it's said, numerous generations of Brahe ended up. Tycho hates the place and seems to blame the administration of the asylum, at least in part, for the situation... All three elder Brahe men who were residing at the asylum have since passed, eliminating any need for Tycho to ever see the place again... Or so he thought...

As a younger man Tycho attended Melior's premier university for the study of the arcane (whatever the mods decide it happens to be called) and received a doctorate in magic with a focus on Apocalyptic Studies (his bachelor's being in underwater basket weaving). Upon graduating, Tycho founded the Startling Developments Detective Agency with a charter to "Tread, without fear, in the whispering dark." Tycho, along with his partner, Johnathan "Gabe" Gabrial, take on cases too startling for their competitors... Or they just look around for valuable shit. (They do more of the latter then the former now a days quite frankly.) Gabe has become like the brother Tycho never really... wanted. How did they meet? Well, it's a long story. You really should be glad you don't know actually...

Why did Tycho abandon a leisurely life of reading moldy tomes of forgotten lore and visiting his niece? Well there was this thing... A thing that involved little fruit obsessed steam powered robots following Tycho (and Gabe) as they were going to see Anne-Claire and a WHOLE LOT of damage to the front porch and the parlor of her house. Tycho's brother, deciding enough was enough and he no longer wanted his daughter to be influenced by her Uncle, used his considerable money and influence to get Tycho committed to the loony bin of his forefathers. Anne-Clare was able to get a message to him before the nice young men in their nice white coats showed up to take them away ho ho ha ha hee hee.

So now they're sky pirates. (It was Gabe's idea, reasoning that it would not only get them away from the authorities but that there was also very little fruit up in the sky. Thus ridding them of the two most annoying things in their lives besides eachother.) That's the best possible way to avoid being committed, don't you think?
